Topping off the tank for the week of 10/15-10/21

by MikeH

A recap of everything GaS from the week of 10/15

Host Luis J Gomez was down in Florida for the weekend with his girlfriend Kimberly Congdon, but there’s no such thing as a day off for the Puerto Rican Rattlesnake so he was up to podcast from the road. Luis and Kim cover Luis meeting her family for the first time, how women sleep with bad comedians and more details from the Harvey Weinstein scandal that broke over the weekend.

Host’s Michael Bisping and Luis J Gomez had a spirited debate on Monday; in honor of the UFC middleweight champion of the world promising to beat up the entire population of Toronto the two covered the list of the best trash talkers in MMA history. The pair again discussed what Bisping plans on doing post UFC 217, the success of some fighters turned comedians and of course they disagree on the main event of upcoming UFC fight night in Gdansk.

Hosts Ralph Sutton and Big Jay Oakerson had a very timely guest, the subject of the extremely popular Netflix documentary Who the Fuck is That Guy? Michael Alago. They covered his history as a young man coming up in the New York scene discovering the sound of a generation. Ralph of course brought up the where and how the two may have crossed paths over the years and Big Jay jumped on the opportunity to point out how bad it made Ralph sound.

Jasta had a lot to celebrate on Tuesday mostly that he hit the milestone of his 300th episode! After a touching tribute in the intro to all of the people who have helped him along the way, including a special shoutout to everyones favorite digital media network he hopped into the episode. As a special treat for fans Johan Hegg, arguably his most demanded guest to date joined the show. The pair went deep down the rabbit hole talking festivals, eating clean and the process of turning music into a graphic novel.

Tim Dillon and Ray Kump also had some celebrating to do after being named one of the top comedy podcasts by Timeout New York. And what better way to celebrate than by inviting in bonafide killer, Yannis Pappas. They discussed the insanity of people freaking out over Harvey Weinstein, and some of Yannis experiences dealing with some of the crazier character’s in entertainment including meting Survivor creator Mark Burnett and auditioning for SNL.

Roastmasters was awesome on Tuesday night. Host Luis J Gomez welcomed in celebrity judges Rich Vos, Big Jay Oakerson and Yamaneika Saunders to judge over a stacked undercard. battles included Claire Parker vs Isabel Hagen, Misha Han vs Usama Siddiquee and Pedro Salinas vs Nate Fridson. After some excellent debuts from a few virgin battlers two fan favorites brought the house down in the Main Event as bi-coastal vet Lindsey Jennings took on everyones favorite underdog Freddy G!

Hosts Luis J Gomez and Zac Amico were reunited and it felt so good to welcome in two fan favorites Mike Recinne and Dan Soder. Luis started off the show with a bang bringing up being snubbed by Zac’s boss, before playing a game of guess the news. Then the comics swapped virginity stories and go to porn sites as well as some seedy investments the Recinne family took part in the 90’s.

Hosts Ricky Bones and Matty Jesterskulls came in hot on Wednesday. Following Matty’s rant from last week they felt the need to dive into the new Weinstein talk as well as Matty’s near accident in Harlem before getting into possibly the most violent card ever booked at UFC on Fox 26. The hosts debated whether Conor was refering to Tony Ferguson or Montana with his cryptic GTA style callout and they wrapped with picks for the coming UFC card in Gdansk.

Myka Fox and Kerryn Feehan were back together, this time to shame charities. The gruesome twosome focused their eyre on Coree Spencer, host of the Cinder Block Festival, which caters primarily to under represented people in comedy and donates the profits to charity. Kerryn and Myka had a lot to say on the topic, from asking if the festival lineup was influenced by affirmative action, and where the submission money went and just how much it costs to run a festival.

Host Big Jay Oakerson returned to join Luis J Gomez but Dave Smith was nowhere to be found. In his stead the Skanks still standing brought in not one, not two but three replacement Jews to compete for the third seat on the show. Justin Silver, Myka Fox and Ian Fidance all had some hysterical insights to Luis self diagnosis of chiggers and Tourettes before battling each other for the top jew spot on the show. Ian blew everyone away with his rapping skills and may have won the job outright, tune in next week to find out!

Bruce Buffer and co-host TJ Desantis invited in friend of the show “Sex-pert” Sammy Philips. Of course the west coast and news and pop culture centric show couldn’t avoid the Harvey Weinstein news. Sammy weighed in on the rampant issue of sexual harassment in the entertainment industry among a host of other topics.

Hosts Mike Cannon and Mike Feeney had a lot to talk about this week. From Cannons insane sounding gig, bussed out into the middle of nowhere to Feeney’s own experience with the warmup guy from hell at Jimmy Kimmel Live, the pair had quite a bit to cover. In typical IGP fashion these two couldn’t help but crack each other up as they both looked forward to an epic Yankees ALCS finale.

Hosts Chris from Brooklyn, Bronx Johnny and Chris Stanley returned to the show on Thursday not only as men but as champions! That’s right HSR went to Picklefest, they came, they saw, they conquered. Chris from Brooklyn’s modified pastrami brine pickle was a massive hit and they even saved the last one for GaS Digital co-owner Ralph Sutton, who gave it the stamp of approval from an actual Jew. Congrats boys! Plus they catch Bronx Johnny in a hilarious lie and they had a real life (inflated) Pickle man in as a guest.

Jamey Jasta was back to wrap up the week with another episode featuring friend of the show Howard Jones from Light the Torch. The duo had a lot to talk about such as the new mosic Howard is working on, festival life and dealing with loss.
